My Path to Ghee
As far back as I can remember, connecting with nature has always been magical for me. As a child, I spent my days outside, climbing trees, making mud-pies, and exploring the magic of our backyard creek. Now I hike the hills near my home as often as I can. I am in love with the outdoors. Also, I have always had an affinity for the farmer and his/her way of life. My father grew up in rural Wisconsin on a dairy farm. His mother, my grandmother, worked on the farm, making food from scratch to feed the family. Everything they ate was raised, grown, and harvested on their land. Like my grandmother, I like to cook simple, wholesome foods that are in their purest form and free from human additives. Over time, I have come to notice how much better I feel when I eat this way and when I understand where my food comes from.
In my early 30’s I began to have some health issues as a result of chronic stress and my diet. Then I noticed that when I ate traditional, unprocessed food, including foods with good fats and fewer carbs, grains, and sugars, I felt better. Feeling empowered by my improved health, I dove into studying how food can heal and prevent inflammation. I also began to recognize the importance healthy saturated fats play in preventing the inflammation cycle. Friends and family, seeing my improved health, also began asking me to help them address their health complications that came from having Type 1 Diabetes, or high cholesterol, or because they wanted help with weight management, or nutrition during cancer treatment. This has led to my use of ghee as a daily dietary staple. It has also ignited my passion for creating this product for you.
